JoAnn Ballard Owens, age 92, of Raymond, died Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Marysville. A homemaker, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. As a farmer’s wife, she helped with all sorts of chores through the years, including hauling grain, milking cows and fixing huge lunches for the farm hands. She was known as a skilled baker and will be remembered for her homemade pies, especially cherry. JoAnn was a longtime member of Millcreek Church of Christ, where she played the piano and organ for many years and sang alto in the church choir. Above all, she cherished being a grandmother and great-grandmother and always looked forward to spending Sunday lunch with her family. She was born June 19, 1929 in Plain City to the late Lewis and Mary Engle Ballard. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Robert L. Owens, whom she married December 5, 1948 at her parent’s house of Eighth Street in Marysville; her siblings, Forrest “Red” Ballard, Betty Poling, Jim Ballard and Linda Scottie. She is survived by her children, Sharon (Phil) Rossow of Hobe Sound, Florida, Cindy (Steve Wycoff) Shay of Marysville, Mike (Susan) Owens of Raymond and Nancy (Chris) Eliades of Boynton Beach, Florida; her grandchildren, Rob (Shan) Mackan, Jake Mackan, Liberty (Dan) Muetzel, Kevin (Robyn) Shay, Brian (Alisha) Owens, Nicholas (Maria) Owens, Kathryn (Colin) Butz, Tyler (Lindsay) Wille, Jonathan (Krista) Eliades and Christopher Eliades; her great-grandchildren, Owen, Chase, Macy, Cami, Ellie, Livi, Avery, Jax and Beckett; her sister, May Parrott; her sister-in-law, Mabel Boerger; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will hold private services at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Millcreek Church of Christ.
