Jimmie D. Phipps

Jimmie D. Phipps, age 75, of North Lewisburg, died peacefully Thursday, October 1, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family and devoted caregivers.  He was a retired associate of O.M. Scott and Sons after 38 years as a packaging specialist.  He was a member of the Scotts 20-Year Club. A 1963 graduate of Northwestern High School in Raymond, he was a member of Raymond Church of Christ in Christian Union and was recently baptized by Pastor Warren Goble. Jimmie formerly volunteered as an EMT for the North Lewisburg ambulance and fire department. He enjoyed dining out, driving the countryside to enjoy nature and local sights.  He loved helping others and will be remembered as “never knowing a stranger.”  He was born February 7, 1945 in Raymond to the late Donald L. and Gertrude Douglas Phipps.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Judy Ann Daum Phipps.  He is survived by two sons, William (Jodi) Phipps of Oldenburg, Indiana and Michael (Stephanie) Phipps of Marysville; his brothers, Ralph “Gene” (Nancy) Phipps of Marysville, Danny (Patti) Phipps of Marysville, Terry (Karen) Phipps of South Carolina and Don Allen (Cathleen) Phipps of Bellefontaine; four grandchildren, Kirsten (Neal) Gamertsfelder of Johnstown, Alex Phipps of Marysville, and Ainsley and Camden Phipps, both of Oldenburg, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews and other loving friends, including his best friend, Patricia Hill. The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2020 at Underwood Funeral Home where a funeral procession will form 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 and proceed to Raymond Cemetery.  COVID precautions will be practiced.  Pastor Warren Goble will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Union County Loving Care Hospice or Raymond Church of Christ in Christian Union. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.underwoodfuneralhome.com.
