James “Jim” Gordon Senecal, age 87, of Marysville, died Friday, May 24, 2019 at his home with his family at his side. Jim retired in 1995 from the Nippert Company after five years where he was manager in data processing. A native of Michigan, he and his wife, Marianne, moved to Prospect, Ohio in 1990 and later relocated to Marysville in 2012. He was a 1952 graduate of St. Theresa’s High School in Detroit. He married his wife of 60 years, Marianne Arick Senecal, on August 9, 1958 in Detroit. The couple took up square and round dancing in the mid 1960’s. They later became instructors of round dancing and choreographed ballroom dancing and travelled and taught throughout the United States. They retired from instructing in 2007 but continued their love of dance until 2015. Jim and Marianne were members of Windsor and Community Seniors and Community and Seasoned Citizens and attended Windsor community meals daily. The couple were also longtime members of the Union County YMCA, where Marianne taught Silver Sneaker aerobatics, the arthritis water class and the chair yoga class. Above all of Jim’s hobbies, he was a deeply devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was born January 8, 1932 in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Warren A. and Helen M. Jankowski Senecal. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Diane Marie (Larry) Schenkel of Brighton, Michigan; two grandsons, Justin Paul (Katie) Schenkel of Howell, Michigan and Casey James (Ariel Dickinson) Schenkel of Madison, Wisconsin; two great-granddaughters Emily Edith Schenkel and Margo Marie Schenkel; a brother, Donald Eugene (Mary) Senecal of Webster, New York; a sister-in-law, Janet Lee (Chuck) Bristol of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
