James Lawrence Sollinger, age 55, of Vienna, Virginia, died Friday, June 20, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. A United States patriot, he spent most of his professional career overseas, including Belgium, South Korea and Greece. He also worked as a volunteer firefighter.
A graduate of the University of Idaho, he held a small aircraft pilot license, was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed outdoor adventures including kayaking and hiking. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Vienna, Virginia.
He was born on August 14, 1958 in Ohio, the eldest son of five children and enjoyed his formative years in Switzerland, France and Italy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary Rongone Sollinger. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Christine Sollinger; two sons, Marc and Matthew Sollinger; his father, Willard D. Sollinger of Marysville; three sisters, Nancy (Jim Caligiuri) Sollinger of Nevada and Janet (Kevin Zerrusen) Sollinger of Virginia and Mary (Dave) Applegate of Marysville; a brother, John (Kelly) Sollinger of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Meadowlark Gardens Atrium, 9750 Meadowlark Gardens Court, Vienna, Virginia In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mychals Message at MychalsMessage.org.
