Ithel Katzenbach, age 98, of Marysville, died Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Monarch Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marysville. She was a retired associate of Ranco in Plain City where she worked for many years. She also was an former associate of Ray Lewis and Sons in Marysville. Ithel loved God, family and friends. She was also known for her fondness of flowers and vegetable gardens. She was born April 14, 1924 in Mazie, Kentucky to the late Britton “Brit” and Emma Fannin Maxie. She was also preceded in death on May 8, 1979 by her husband of 33 years, John “Jim” Katzenbach; and her siblings, Emery Maxie, John Maxie, Hazel Varney, Grovia Smittle, Beatrice Lucas and Bonnie Sprouse. She is survived by her children, Donna (Glen) Nicodemus of Washington Court House, James (Nancy) Katzenbach of Raymond, John Katzenbach of Marysville and Ron (Carolyn) Katzenbach of Selma, California; her grandchildren, Angela (Richard) Beaver, Todd (Kelly) Katzenbach, Ryan Katzenbach, Jared (Laura) Katzenbach and Shane (Pam) Katzenbach; her great-grandchildren, Noah Beaver, McKenna Katzenbach, Isaac Beaver, Chase Katzenbach, Carter Katzenbach; her step-great grandchildren, Max, Brayden, Mollie and Macie Smith; her sister and “special friend,” Ada Jordan of Cardington; her brother, Jim (Brenda) Maxie of Arizona; many special nieces and nephews; and other friends, including, Joe, Robyn and Tim Jasper. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Underwood Funeral Home where a funeral procession will form and proceed to Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lewisburg for a 1 p.m. graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made in Ithel’s memory to Loving Care Hospice, 779 London Ave., Marysville, Ohio 43040. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
