Hilda C. Pyatt Waggoner, 77, of Mt. Victory, died Thursday, September 26, 2013 at her home following a lengthy illness. A homemaker, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Byhalia Friends Church and served on the nominating committee. She and her husband were active through the years with overseas missions. She enjoyed bird watching and gardening. Most important to her was that every person she met had the opportunity to know the Lord Jesus Christ and accept Him as their Savior.
She was born October 24, 1935 in Sandyville, West Virginia to the late Elmer L. and Mabel Rhodes Pyatt and was also predeceased by a son, Kevin A. Waggoner and an infant brother, Emerson. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Vental A. Waggoner, whom she married November 7, 1953 in Layman; her children, Howard Waggoner of Columbus, Theda (Marc) Bass of Okeechobee, FL, Nacoma (Michael) Mayhugh of Chesterhill and Ralph (Sara) Waggoner of Norton; a daughter-in-law, Debra Waggoner of Orrville; 18 grandchildren, Mitchal, Correne, Christina, Anita, Jessica, Kevin Jr., Michelle, Amy, Victoria, Joshua (Ashley), Shaletha (Oscar), Kyle, Garrett, Vental “Alexander”, Bethany, Catherine, Daniel, Emmeline; three step grandchildren, Bill, Mandy and April; several great grandchildren; her sister, Della Mae Pyatt and her brother, Ralph (Carol) Pyatt, both of Layman; two sisters-in-law, Janet Waggoner and Dot Waggoner; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Byhalia Friends Church where the family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. Pastor Jim Gardner will officiate and burial will be at Byhalia Cemetery.
