Harold L. Kittrell

Harold Leslie Kittrell, Jr., age 91, of Columbus, died peacefully Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a pharmaceutical sales representative and manager with Merck, Sharpe and Dohme for 30 years. A graduate of Columbus North High School, he received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Kentucky State University. Early in his career, he taught business classes at Paint Lick High School in Kentucky where he served as head basketball coach. A member of Karl Road First Christian Church, he was a veteran of the United States Army, the Kentucky National Guard and was honored a “Kentucky Colonel.” A member of Toastmasters Club, he was also a member of York Masonic Lodge No. 563 F. & A. M., Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus and Aladdin Shrine. An avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan, Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting and jogging. A golfer, he was a member of York Golf Club in Worthington. Above all, he was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born October 11, 1928 in Glouster, Ohio to the late Harold Leslie and Marjorie W. Hepler Kittrell, Sr. and was also predeceased by an infant brother, Bobby Lee Kittrell.  He is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Nancy Elizabeth Blake Kittrell, whom he married July 30, 1949 at First Christian Church in Richmond, Kentucky; his son, Harold William Kittrell of Surf City, North Carolina; his daughter, Catherine Kittrell of Columbus; two granddaughters, Sara Lizbeth (Dustin) Lambries of Illinois and Abigail Leigh (Phil) Granath of Alaska; five great-grandchildren, Ruth, Joel, Lilly, Gage, Rowen; his brother, Charles E. (Helga) Kittrell of Powell; and a niece, Kari Lynn (Rick) Poole of Columbus. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon, Monday, August 17, 2020 at Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Kentucky.
