Harold David Baughman, 70, of Marysville, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at The Gables at Green Pastures. He was generous and cheerful giver with a passion for his family, his church and his community. He retired after almost 44 years as the Facility Manager at Nestles in Marysville. He was well-known for his longtime, wholehearted service and dedication to the Marysville Evening Lions Club. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as a deacon and a teller. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Circleville and confirmed his faith on March 25, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marysville. A 1959 graduate of Marysville High School, he was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of American Legion Union Post 79. He was a former member of the Boy Scouts of America and formerly served with the Plain City Fire Department. He attended The Ohio State University and was an avid fan of OSU football and girls’ basketball. He liked gardening, hunting, boating and fishing on Lake Erie. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren here in Ohio and in Georgia. He was born December 21, 1941 in Circleville to the late Harold and Kathryn Chalfin Baughman and was also predeceased by three brothers-in-law, Fred Elmore, John Blumenschein and Roger Morley; and a niece, Candice Morley Leidtke. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jane Blumenschein Baughman, whom he married May 15, 1981 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church; a son, Mike (Debbie) Griffith of Marysville; a daughter, Marlene (Jon) Young of Peachtree City, GA; six grandchildren, Stephen and Michaela Griffith, Ashley and Michael Young, Jimmy (Lisa) and Chris (Amy) Davis and a great-granddaughter, Molly Davis; two sisters, Betty (Mike) Riggilo and Jill Elmore; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Morley; two brothers-in-law, Ewald (Pat) Blumenschein and Pearl (Susan) Blumenschein; nieces, Angie (Dan) Bolenbaugh, Holly Elmore, Brandi Riggilo, Christi (Noland) Geihart, Cathy (Rick) Monroe, Cindy Shanklin, Linda (Greg) Etter, Trisha McMunn, Nikki (Michael) McCleary; nephews, David (Janie), Dan (Melanie), Tony (Tracy), Tim (Laura) Blumenschein; one aunt, Lorna Barone; and many great nieces and nephews, many cousins and many friends. The family will receive friends 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Underwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. John W. Fair will officiate and burial will be at the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a dinner at St. John’s school following the interment. Military honors will be provided by the Union County Military Funeral Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s church boiler fund.
