Haleigh Jenna Golden, age 20, passed unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in Cincinnati.
A senior at the University of Cincinnati College of Arts and Sciences, her career-driven attributes lead her to double major in Communications and Journalism, with double minors in Sports Media & Promotions and Public Relations. In addition to her elite academic standing, she served as President of the Lambda Pi Eta honorary fraternity. She was a member of the university’s CommuniCATS communications group that brings students and alumni together. She expressed her spiritual beliefs and values as the Editor-in-Chief and a senior writer for the Cincinnati’s journalistic publication, The Odyssey. She attended Crossroads Uptown Church and Young Adults Youth Group while studying in Cincinnati.
A 2016 graduate of Marysville High School, she was an officer in LEO Club where she displayed her compassion and inclusion for people by volunteering her time and talents. She was also a member of the MHS Symphonic Choir, Show Choir, and the Production Manager for Marysville’s Summer Theater Workshop. A skilled soccer player, she was passionate for collegiate and professional sports, especially UC Bearcats and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Above all her accomplishments, she remained a compassionate and beautiful daughter, loving and unwavering sister, and loyal and humble friend. To her family she was witty but thoughtful, to her friends she was hilariously sassy with a dash of sweet, and she had an intrinsic and empathetic love for all creatures, especially pugs and goats. Her Godly inner beauty was reflected in her creative and artistic abilities. She left a lasting impression on all those who knew her.
She was born July 29, 1998 in Laurel, Maryland and was predeceased by her grandfather, Richard Dradt. She is survived by her parents, Doug and Rishanne Golden of Marysville; her sister, Taylor Golden of Marysville; her grandparents, Sharon and Michael Golden of Boynton Beach, Florida and Carol Wedlake of Marysville; an uncle, Lee (Leslie) Golden of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey; her aunts, Deanne Hackathorne of Marysville and Susan (Dennis) Farkas of Columbus; her cousins, Ally and Dani Golden, Devin Farkas, and Cross Hackathorne; as well as Godparents and longtime dear friends Kenny and Callie Booth and their sons, Michael and Trevor, of Maryland and Nate and Diane Weirick and their children, Isabella and Logan, of Marysville; and many relatives and friends.
The family requests that all funeral home visitors refrain from heavy perfumes, colognes or strong scents due to severe family medical sensitivities. The family will receive friends from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Underwood Funeral Home, 703 East Fifth Street, Marysville, Ohio 43040. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 12 at Northgate Church, 51 Fourwinds Drive, Sunbury, Ohio 43074. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio Pug Rescue, Inc. or the Crossroads Uptown Church Youth Group of Cincinnati.
