Our sincere condolences and prayers are with Susie and the whole family. My family grew up with Dr. Bill Miefert, and we didn't think anyone could do as good a job as "our dentist". However, Dr. Strauss stepped right in and took great care of us. His gentle humor and skillful dentistry made us know that we would be just fine. When our family grew with spouses and grandchildren, they all joined us in Dr. Strauss's dental chair, and he took great care of them as well. Thank you, Dr. Strauss for taking such good care of our family. We will all miss you! Fondly, The Ward Family

Dr. Strauss was a very special man. He served his community with great care. Like many others, it seems that I grew up in his chair. Gone too soon. Prayers to you, Susie.

I was a patient of Dr. Strauss as long as he was a dentist in Marysville. I feel a huge void in my heart because of Dr. Strauss's passing. I have missed seeing him and teasing him for awhile now. I always asked Dr Guster about him and said tell him I missed him. My heart is breaking for Susie, their children, their family and the dental office family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love and blessings to you all.

Today was the day when Jerry would’ve worn his red and green jingle bell Converse high tops to work. The office was quieter than it would’ve been with Jerry jogging from check to check, a kind word and a Christmas greeting for each of his patients. Dr Strauss was missed today. Susie, Victoria and Jerry do not deserve the anguish they bear today and I wish that I could take away their suffering. I hope they find solace in knowing how beloved and respected a man was their husband/father. God bless all of you. Tess

We are so very sad to learn of Dr. Strauss' passing. We send our sympathies to Susie and all of his family. As the finest dentist and caring individual we have known, he will be missed by so many people. Although we have not lived in Marysville for some time, our past memories of being under his care, are special. He was always gentle, reassuring, and comforting. His humor and personality made us feel like we had come to visit a old friend. His connections with our family include his loving care of my Mother Pat Bangs and my departed Father Dick Bangs. His gracious care of them through out the years was so much appreciated. Our thoughts of hope and prayers of strength are with you and all your loved ones. Sincerely, Max and Vicki Kells

Our deepest sympathy to you Susie and all the family in the loss of Dr Strauss. Our chance meeting with you in Florida and the subsequent renting of your condo was a fortunate opportunity for us. In the short time of our conversation we discovered many mutual friends. The warmth you showed us was felt by both of us. I can see by reading his obituary he was an active, committed, loving and loved gentleman. Our prayers to all.

My son John was a patient with Dr. Strauss when he was 3 years old. He would talk to him like he was one of his own. He treated him very kindly and he really cared about my son. My son really enjoyed coming to see him because he was not afraid that he would not hurt him. We all enjoyed his funny stories. God had blessed us with a good hearted person on earth but now he will be heaven with peace of mind that he has helped others.

Dr. Strauss, you were my first and only dentist. I never understood why people hated going to the dentist...it didn't make sense to me. I loved going to see you. You were funny, warm, gentle and always remembered little details of my life that we discussed 6 months before. When I was a child, I liked you, a lot...you made me feel special. As an adult, I realized I didn't just like you, I respected you, admired you, and looked up to you. You made me want to be a better person. How does a dentist you see for 15 minutes every 6 months do that? I wish every person could have had the opportunity to be Dr. Strauss's patient, or as I considered myself, one of his "dental kids". I miss you Dr. Strauss. I pray for strength for Susie and all your family.

Nearly 28 years ago a man, known to many in our community, took a chance on me to work in his busy dental practice. Little did I know the impact he would have on my personal and professional life. He taught me compassion, honesty, respect, and the value of a smile. After that, he pushed me to become the nurse I always dreamed of being. To this day, I still love what I do and have a life I love because he knew what I was capable of before I did. Today I learned that my mentor, Gerald S. Strauss, D.D.S. passed away. Thank you Jerry, for allowing me to sit beside you, caring for your patients, talking sports, discussing what we would do with our lottery winnings (even though we would have to play first), sharing a love for Christmas-time, and enjoying the firsts as our children grew. I'm proud to have worked for and with you and I hope you are proud of me. You will remain in my heart forever. Susie, Jerry, and Victoria, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you feel God’s love and grace through this difficult time. Sincerely, Teri Fox-Story
