George J. Seaman

George J. Seaman, age 82, of North Canton, died peacefully Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was a retired meat inspector after 39 years with the USDA. He was a graduate of Southern High School in Philadelphia where he played baseball and football. He also played men’s softball and coached little league and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. A “family first” man, he adored his wife and children and enjoyed his pet dogs. He will be most remembered for his honesty, genuineness and kindness. He was born December 14, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA, one of six children to the late Henry and Alice Unzinski Seaman. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Rose Margaret Dunne Seaman; his siblings, Ruth Gorman, Henry “Bud” Seaman, Frances Coleman and Margaret Kelly. He is survived by his three children, George (Heidi) Seaman of Gresham, OR, Andrew “Andy” (Sherri Boccia) Seaman of Worcester, MA and Elizabeth “Beth” (Edgar) Scheiderer of Powell, OH; three grandchildren, Natalee and John Seaman and Jordan Scheiderer; a great-grandson, Tre’ Seaman; his sister, Alice Hines of Philadelphia; a sister-in-law, Patricia (Robert) Smedley; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Underwood Funeral Home is assisting the family locally.  Ora Wooster Funeral Home in Clementon, New Jersey is handling funeral arrangements.  Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Berlin, New Jersey. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church/School, Fourth and Jasper Streets, Camden, NJ 08104.
