Gene A. Hanselman, age 70, of North Lewisburg, formerly of Milford Center, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at The Ohio State University Ross Heart Hospital. A lifelong artesian, designer, craftsman and musician, he fabricated many landscape stones and sandblasted wood pieces. A 1966 graduate of Marysville High School, he was a drummer in the marching band and also played for “Original Cast,” a local 1960’s rock band. He was also a music promoter and established “Continental Promotions.” An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, riding four-wheelers, nature and the farm he grew up on. A longtime motorcycle enthusiast, he loved riding his Honda “trike” and was a contributing editor for Honda Goldwing newsletter. He was instrumental in establishing the Marysville Mitts traveling baseball team and Marysville girls’ little league softball. He was a member of the former Pottersburg United Methodist Church and was a member and past exalted ruler of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Marysville Lodge 1130. In recent years, he was newsletter editor for Cherry Arbors where he resided and where he also enjoyed playing cards with friends and other residents. He was born April 23, 1948 in St. Paris, Ohio to the late Frederick A. and Marjorie Truby Hanselman. He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Mike Napier; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Napier. He is survived by his two sons, Eric (Jenn) Hanselman of Charleston, South Carolina and Aaron (Angela) Hanselman of Marysville; his daughter, Niki (Karyne) Hanselman of Hilliard; four grandchildren, Sean, Casey, Abram, Elijah; his sister, Kay Napier of Loveland, Ohio; his nephew, Lee Napier; and many other relatives and friends, including his companion, Cassandra Green. The family will receive friends 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2018 at Underwood Funeral Home. Private interment will be held at later date.
