Gayle D. Schlecty Koontz, age 73, of Marysville, died Friday, September 10, 2021 at The Ohio State University Medical Center. A homemaker, she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a big Ohio State Buckeyes fan and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She was born February 28, 1948 in Greenville, Ohio to the late William and Imogene Schlecty. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Donald Lee Koontz and her brother, Roger Schlecty. She is survived by two sons, Christopher Paul Koontz of Galloway and Gregory Lee (Bernice) Koontz of Marysville; two grandsons, Jacob (Katelynn) Koontz of Marysville and Nikolaus Koontz of Marysville; her brother, Norbert (Becky) Schlecty of Rossburg; her sister, Deborah (Tim) Soldenwagoner of Florida; a sister-in-law, Kay Devereux of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, West Third Street, Marysville, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Bishop Chris Spaeth will officiate. Graveside services will be held 12 noon Monday, September 20, 2021 at Brock Cemetery in Brock, Ohio.
