Gary L Slone, Sr.

December 30, 1953 - April 3, 2014

Gary Lee Slone, Sr., age 60, of Mount Gilead, formerly of Marysville, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 surrounded by his family at Morrow County Hospital in Mount Gilead, following a two-year battle with cancer. An associate with D & L Quality Painting, he was a home improvement remodeler/entrepreneur for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially liked spending time with family. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War era. He was a member of Marysville VFW Post 3320, the Mount Gilead VFW Post and the American Legion Post in Delaware. He was born December 30, 1953 in Columbus and was predeceased by his mother, Joyce Ann Tackett Slone. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee Alan Slone and a brother, Gregory Alan Slone. He is survived by his father, Clifford Slone of Baltimore, Ohio; his brother, Larry (Debbie) Slone of Marysville; his sisters, Sandra (Doug) Manns of Ostrander and Deborah Reyneke of Mount Gilead; two daughters Cristina Lynn Slone Wagner of Tallahassee, FL and Tina Evelyn Bailey of Gahanna; a step-son Jamie Dominic Bailey of Mt. Gilead; many grandchildren including Willard, Tawny, Cody, Gwyneth and Grayce; great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends beginning at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Underwood Funeral Home, 703 East Fifth Street, Marysville, Ohio where a memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Condolences may be expressed to the family at Memorial contributions may be made to the Gary Slone memorial fund in care of the funeral home.
