Frieda Yoder Nicol

Frieda Elouise Yoder Nicol, age 100, of Marysville, died Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Monarch Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a former associate of Timken Roller Bearings, Columbus Dental, and Marzettis in Columbus; the Incor and Conrad bath houses in Magnetic Springs; and O.M. Scott and Sons and Union Rural Electric in Marysville. She grew up in Leesburg Township on the family farm and was a member of Springdale Baptist Church. She joined her husband Donald A. Nicol in holy marriage under the ministry of Pastor Henry Allwardt at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on October 25, 1947. Following her marriage, she confirmed her faith at St. John’s on November 14, 1948. She will be most remembered as a loving wife and mother and a dearly devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born June 20, 1922 in Union County to the late Orlando “John” and Mabel Wollam Yoder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in October 1996 by her husband of 49 years, Donald A. C. Nicol; a sister-in-law, Irene Nicol; sister-and brother-in-law Betty Lou and Ralph Nicol; and on May 11, 1952, by an infant son. She is survived by her son, Michael (Cheryl) Nicol of Fairborn; her daughter, Sandy (Al) Barranada of Columbus; her grandchildren, Melissa (Michael) Odenweller, Michelle (Matthew) Long, Mark (Soschia) Barranada, Zeboney Barranada and Natalie Barranada; her great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Sutton, Jaxon, Zoey, Rhiannon and Roman; her niece, Patricia (James) Lynch and nephew Roger (Lisa) Nicol; and other relatives. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Underwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2023 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Jacob D. Heino will officiate and burial will be beside her husband at the church cemetery. The family would like to thank Frieda’s church family at St. John’s as well as her care teams at Loving Care Hospice and Monarch Skilled Nursing.
