Everette Don Haynes, age 86, of Plain City, died Friday, February 1, 2019 at Prestige Gardens in Marysville. He was a retired supervisor with Columbia Gas after 35 years. He also retired after 25 years from Sutphen Corporation in Hilliard where he worked with ladder assembly. He grew up in Second Creek, West Virginia and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and service during the Korean Conflict as a tank mechanic. A small engine mechanic and “tinkerer,” he was fond of John Deere tractors and participated every year with the Miami Valley Steam Threshers. He was a member of Hilliard Lodge No. F & AM. As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. The last living of five children, he was born September 11, 1932 in Second Creek, West Virginia to the late Homer and Bertha Martin Haynes. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Beverly K. Haynes; two daughters, Melanie Haynes and Merry Haynes Blodgett; and his siblings, Virginia, Margaret, Homer and William. He is survived by his sister, Sarah (Delbert) Morgan; two grandchildren, Mark and Steven Blodgett; his son-in-law, Tony Blodgett; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives. The family will receive friends 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Big Darby Baptist Church where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
