Esther Marie Simkins Robinson, age 86, of Marysville and a life resident of Union County, died Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Brookdale Senior Living. A nurse her entire life, she first began her career as a candy striper at the new Memorial Hospital of Union County when it opened in the early 1950’s. She also worked as a charge nurse for Union Manor for several years and as a parish nurse for her church. During her retirement, she operated a private in-home care nursing service. Esther also held a realtor’s license and was an associate of Alt Realty. Following graduation from Marysville High School in 1954, she earned her LPN diploma. She was a longtime member of Christian Assembly Church and board member of Christian Assembly School. In addition to her busy careers, she served as a Girl Scout leader for Troop 358 and as a Sunday School teacher. Esther and her late husband, Robbie, enjoyed their Indian Lake home and loved boating, jet skiing and other water sports. Esther will be most remembered as deeply spiritual, compassionate and genuinely kind-hearted. She was born June 1, 1935 in Union County to the late Sumner and Violet Simkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Donald E. “Robbie” Robinson, whom she married February 2, 1957. She is survived by her daughters, Gina (Michael) Raymond of Bluffton, South Carolina and Kim (Reese) Chapman of Marysville; three grandchildren, Tanner (Angie) Chapman of Bowling Green and Colton Chapman and Darby Chapman, both of Marysville; a great-grandson, Sawyer; her brother, Myron (Sony) Simkins of Westerville; and many nieces, nephews and good friends. Esther was in excellent hands in her later years with caregivers Nikole Drumm and Kasey Gansheimer.
