Emma Louise Nicol

Emma Louise Blumenschein Nicol, age 96, of Marysville and a life resident of Union County, died peacefully Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at her home with her loving family by her side.  A homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, she was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was baptized May 25, 1924 and confirmed her faith, April 10, 1938. She was a member of St. John’s Ladies Aid and was an active volunteer with the catering committee.  She also volunteered for many years at Memorial Hospital where she served in patient services and as a greeter in the Morey Center. She accrued 3028 volunteer hours in 18 years and five months at the hospital.  A 1942 graduate of Chuckery Darby High School, she was a former worker at the Ohio Orchard for a short time.  She enjoyed cooking and was known for her homemade noodles. She loved gardening and canning and especially cherished being with her family.  She was born May 20, 1924 in Union County to the late Theodore J. F. and Clara Margaret Scheiderer Blumenschein.  She was also preceded in death by her husband 58 years, Ralph M. F. Nicol; and her siblings, Dorothy Nicol, Harold Blumenschein and Reinhard Blumenschein.  She is survived by her children, Audrey (Frank) Walters of Goode, Virginia, Paul (Rose) Nicol of Milford Center, Dale (Barbara) Nicol of Marysville, Shirley (Larry) Knueven of Delaware, Trudy (Kevin) Kilfian of Marysville and Terry (Paula) Nicol of Milford Center; her grandchildren, Megan (Rodney) McCoy, Erin McCoy, Danielle (Keith) Turnock, Derek (Bridget) Nicol, Denise (Ben) Bahil, Renee (John) Hearner, Katie (Laban) Matthews, Levi (Ali) Smith, Adam Nicol, Rachel (Donnie) Megahan, Lorie (Steve) Wrazien, Kendra (Tim) Savage, Katti (Marcus) Zarins, Kyle (Ileana) Kilfian, Corinne (Brett) Parks, Jacob (Ryanne) Kilfian, Brooke (John) Vozar and Ryan Nicol; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jacob, Jace, Lauren, Ella, Maggie, Liz, Jack, Winston, Miles, Anthony, Penelope, Ivy, Olive, Milo, Oak, Isabella, Toby, Violet, Solomon, Ezra, Allison, Emily, Ethan, Callie, Eva, Lucas, Liam, Connor, Hadiah, Gemma, Remy, Raya, Declan, Naomi and Cade; great-great-granddaughters, Peyton and Carter; sister-in-law, Leona Blumenschein; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Nicol and Eugene Scheiderer; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2020 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where the family will receive friends in the sanctuary beginning at 12 noon.  Rev. Jacob D. Heino will officiate and burial will be at the church cemetery.
