Dwight A. Lowry, Sr., age 66, of Marysville, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a longtime custodian with the Marysville school system and coached Marysville seventh and eight girls’ softball, which he helped organize in the early 2000’s. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam. A sports enthusiast, he also coached Heart of Ohio travel girls’ softball and was a big Cleveland Browns fan. Despite his cancer diagnosis, he maintained a positive attitude and was always an encourager of others. He was a role model and mentor to many children throughout his coaching career. He was born February 8, 1952 in Delaware. He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight H. Lowry; and his brother, Dean Lowry. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Leona M. Hartley Lowry, whom he married May 1979; his mother, Lois Ann Sinclair Lowry of Marysville; his children, Lacie (Kevin) Crofut of Richwood, Tammy (Bryan) Quick of Lima, Rex (Shelli) Kelley of Richwood, Nick (Christine) Lowry of Nashville, Tennessee, Alena (Steve) Bankes of Marysville and Dwight Lowry, Jr. of Marysville; his grandchildren, Ashley, Zach, Beth, Lauren, Jayla, Rhyan, Catherine, Kennedy, Brick, Luke, Ben, Kaitlyn and Collin; his great-grandchildren, Aleah, Braiden and Ellianna; two brothers, Dwane Lowry and David (Leta) Lowry; a sister, Lisa (Mike) Brown; his sisters-in-law, Aletha Lowry and Leora (Doug) Marlow; a brother-in-law, Leon “Bim” Hartley; and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and other relatives. Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2018 at Underwood Funeral Home where a funeral procession will form at 1 p.m. and proceed to Oakdale Cemetery for graveside services with military honors.
