Doward Lee Runyan, age 88, of Marysville, died Sunday, July 5, 2020 in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital in Marysville. A graduate of Marion Harding High School, he held bachelorâ€™s and masterâ€™s degrees in Â mechanical engineering. A veteran of the United States Army, he served during the Korean War. An engineer by trade, he was a retired associate of Oilgear and was a former associate of Chrysler, BorgWarner and Rexroth. While working for BorgWarner, Doward moved his family to South Africa where he served as a vocational missionary for eleven years. His devoted passion was studying the Bible and mentoring others in the Christian faith. He was a member of Marysville Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for many years. Â He will be especially remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and teacher.Â He was born February 22, 1932 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Edgar and Carolyn Wolfe Runyan. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lena May Bloomfield Runyan, whom he married March 7, 1954; and all of his siblings.Â He is survived by five daughters, Brenda (Michael) Cramer of Kenton, Blythe (Michael) McKenna of Westerville, Laurie (Bryan) Belville of Marysville, Lisa (Doug) Baker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Melanie (John) Werner of Waukesha, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Rebekah (Brad) Roll, David (Kiera) Keen, Sarah (Daniel) Gossett, Jason (Kara) Gibson, Kristen Gibson, Candice (Dean) Kearsh, Jillian (Jesse) Bryant, Brittany (Rob) Phillips, Emmanuel Belville, Zion Belville, Anaya Belville, Hannah Baker, Rachel Baker, Caleb Baker, Joel Baker, Jenna Werner and Jacob Werner; great-grandchildren, Laney, Lincoln, Carson, Tyler, Tucker, Emerson, Quinn, Hudson, Hazel, Eleanor, Oliver and Parker; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. A funeral procession will form at 1:30 p.m. Friday, JULY 10, 2020 at Underwood Funeral Home and proceed to Oakdale Cemetery for a 2 p.m. graveside service.
