Debbie Regina Evans, age 49, of Marysville, died peacefully Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at home with her family by her side. For the past sixteen months, Debbie courageously lived her life with a positive attitude, energetic spirit and hopeful outlook despite her diagnosis with stomach cancer. A radiology technician at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, she received her associate’s degree from Columbus State Community College. She was also a former associate of Honda of America and was a licensed cosmetologist. She grew up near Magnetic Springs and was a 1988 graduate of North Union High School. She liked running and participated in many races. She most recently completed her first ½ marathon. She also enjoyed family vacations to her “happy place,” their Hilton Head Island condo. Her greatest joy was being around her family and she especially loved being a “Nana.” She was born March 14, 1970 in Barberton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father, Arvin Rickey Sims, Sr.; her mother, Rose Mary Smith Brooks; two brothers, Michael Sims and Jon Brooks. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Kevin G. Evans, whom she married March 8, 2002; her children, LeAnn (Mike) Swihart of Richwood, Krystal May of Marysville, Courtney Evans of Cleveland and Brock (Jackie) Ridder of Marysville; two grandchildren, Ava and Landon Swihart; her step-father, Michael D. Brooks of Marysville; her brother, Rick (Tammy) Sims of Richwood; a sister-in-law, Cindy Evans; her mother-in-law, Sharon (Sam) Yohn; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many supportive and loving friends, co-workers and neighbors. The family will receive friends 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Underwood Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Pastor Miguel Frazier will officiate and private interment will be held at a later date at Oakdale Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.underwoodfuneralhome.com.
