Darriel Brewer Forson, age 84, a resident of Marysville for almost seven decades, died Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the home of his daughter in Columbus. He retired in 1996 from Goodyear in Marysville where he was an associate for almost 30 years. Darriel was also a former associate of Eljer Plumbingware. Raised in southeastern Kentucky, he met the love his life, Lillian, on a blind date in Garrett, Kentucky back in 1952. He was a member of Newton, Richwood and Palestine Masonic Lodges. He grew up as a farmer and enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and reading Western books. He was a steadfast Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born September 8, 1934 in Lackey, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Brewer Forson and his mother and step-father, Jessie Mae Caudill and Levi Oliver. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Brian Oliver and infant Jerry Oliver and special brothers-and sisters-in-law. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillian I. Daniels Forson, whom he married June 10, 1953 in Garrett, Kentucky; a daughter, Deborah (Richard) Harter of Columbus; a son, Randy D. Forson of Marysville; his grandchildren, Angela Travis of Hilliard, Liza (Tim) Gensure of Commercial Point, Richard Eubanks of Hilliard and Jordan Forson of Marysville; his great-grandchildren, Jaden Travis, Eaven Eubanks and Alexandria Eubanks; his brother, David (Gloria) Oliver of Marion; his sister, Elisabeth Lorimer of Cardington; a brother-in-law, Floyd Daniels of Garrett, Kentucky; his sisters-in-law, Sharon Gibson of Marysville, Bonnie McGuire of Franklin, Dorothy Daniels of LaPorte, Indiana and Tomasene Oliver of Marysville; a loyal companion, “Hanz Freckles”; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. The family will receive friends 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Underwood Funeral Home where a masonic memorial service will be held following the calling hours. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lewisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Hospice.
