Daniel L. Nesselroad, age 76, of North Lewisburg, died Thursday, May 24, 2018 at The Arbors in Delaware following a lengthy illness with asbestosis. He retired after 30 years as a millright with Weirton Steel in West Virginia. A lifelong farmer, as a youth he and his family operated a grain farm in Kilgore, Ohio. He was a 1960 graduate of Carrollton High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Enterprise and USS America in the Mediterranean and the Holy Lands. He attended Raymond Church of Christ in Christian Union and enjoyed reading, puzzles and spending time with his family. He was born April 7, 1942 in Akron, Ohio to the late Charles Clarence and Martha Leah Brown Nesselroad. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Charles Miller; two brothers-in-law, Jack and Eugene Kennedy; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Boyd. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Carol Kennedy Slabaugh Nesselroad, whom he married April 3, 1994; two stepsons, Dale (Susan) Slabaugh of Grove City and Dennis Slabaugh of Milford Center; four grandchildren, Deven, Bethany, Renee and Jenna Slabaugh; a brother, Bill (Debbie) Miller of Florida; a brother-in-law, Bob Kennedy of California; four sisters-in-law, Ruth Archer of Massillon, Maryjane (Fred) Aul of Strasburg and Shirley Nicholson of Canton. Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Pastor Warren Goble will officiate and burial will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Oakdale Cemetery.
