Daniel Lee Smith, age 50, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 4, 2023 in his home. A stone mason by trade, he operated his own company for many years, Exterior Concepts and Design. Dan grew up in Martins Ferry, Ohio and graduated from Martins Ferry High School. An outdoorsman, he also enjoyed playing pool and poker. He especially loved helping others and hanging out with his good friends. Above all, he was a devoted husband, son, brother, father, grandpa and uncle. He was born June 15, 1972 in Belmont, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick A. Smith; and his sister, Leigh Smith. Dan is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lori Ann Smith; his mother, Martha Sue McBroom Smith; his siblings, Fred (Jessica) Smith, Becky Smith and Amy (Richard Hook) Smith; his children, Frederick Reed, Katie (Justin) Sonnenberg and Grant (Maddie) McHugh; two grandsons, Adler Sonnenberg and Lincoln McHugh; nieces and nephews, Katlyn Smith, Alex and Mason Smith, Carter and Aleigh Smith and Benjamin, Clarice and Sara Foster; his father-and mother-in-law, Benjamin and Constance Foster; and his brother-in-law, Benjamin (Lynn) Foster. A gathering “Celebrating the Life of Daniel Lee Smith” will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Marysville Eagles Lodge, 700 Milford Avenue, Marysville.
