Daniel Brian “Dan” Hughes, age 48, of Steubenville, formerly of Marysville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at his home. He was an information technology analyst for Reimbursement Concepts in Weirton, West Virginia. Dan was a 1986 graduate of Marysville High School and attended DeVry University in computer technology. Known by his closest friends as “Big Dano,” he was a NASCAR, Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. His utmost pride and joy was his son, Layne. Dan was born August 20, 1968 in Columbus and was preceded in death by his father, Jack Hughes; his step-father, Jack Erwin; and his sister, Deborah Hart Wilds. He is survived by his son, Layne Daniel Hughes; his mother, Joyce Erwin of Marysville; two sisters, Carman Hart Williams of Marysville and Sandra Hart Markin of Columbus; three brothers, Charles (Robyn) Hughes of Mt. Victory, Ohio, Patrick (Cynthnie) Hughes of Leesburg, Georgia, and Ryan Hughes of Marysville; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Underwood Funeral Home in Marysville where the family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to American Heart Association or a charity of choice.
