Dan F. Eley, 60, of Westminster, Colorado, formerly of East Liberty, Ohio, died unexpectedly Friday, November 18, 2011 at his home in Colorado. He was a project engineer for G4S Technologies in Centennial, Colorado and was a former associate for Qwest Communications. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. An outdoorsman and a lover of the Rocky Mountains, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, ATVs and golfing. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. A draftsman and craftsman, he liked woodworking, painting and creative arts. He was a supporter of several wildlife charities. He was born April 21, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio. He was predeceased by his father, Carl W. Eley and his wife, Lillian May Ferris Eley. He is survived by his mother, Janice E. Zink Eley of East Liberty; two sons, Damon (Randi) Eley of Galloway, Ohio and Derek Eley of Westminster, Colorado; a step-son, Eric Smith of Marysville, Ohio; two granddaughters, Corinn and Kylie; his siblings, Dave (Terri) Eley of East Liberty, OH, Rev. John (Robyn) Eley of Franklin, IN, Jim Eley of East Liberty, Jenny Eley Casper of Dunkirk, Oh, and Tom (Amanda) Eley of Marysville; and numerous other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Underwood Funeral Home, 703 East Fifth Street, Marysville, Ohio 43040 where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be at East Liberty Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.underwood16.wpengine.com.
