Clemate “Matie” L. Valandingham Bowshier, age 64, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at his home following a long-term illness. He was a former associate of JD Equipment in Dublin. An outdoorsman, he loved hunting and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed making yearly salmon fishing trips to Michigan and held a state brown trout fishing record at Mad River in West Liberty. Since he was nine years old, he liked mushroom hunting. His sportsman talents were well-known by many people, young and old around many counties. He also had a love for playing the guitar and singing with friends and family. A 1976 graduate of Marysville High School, Matie liked making people laugh. He was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed. He was born January 18, 1958 in Marysville to the late Ernest “Ray” and Ruth “WeeWee” Marie Simpson Bowshier. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dave Bowshier and an infant son, Jeremy Stover Bowshier. He is survived by his sons, Chad Rausch of Columbus and Austin (Suzanne) Hillman of Fort Myers Beach, Florida; his sister, Nancy “Nan” (Larry) Carden of Marysville; his brother, James “Jeb” (Wanda Michael) Bowshier; a granddaughter, Braelynn Hillman; his former companion, Darlene Hillman; and many nieces and nephews and special friends, Mike McEvoy and Ed Dillon.
