Cathy Jo Beacom Peterman, age 71, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Friday, November 26, 2021 in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital. A 1968 graduate of Buckeye Valley High School, she was a former secretary at the Ohio Reformatory for Women and also served as a title clerk for the Union County Auto Title Department. A longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Marysville, Cathy served as church secretary for many years with Rev. John M. Groat. She was also active in church choir and served as Deacon and Elder. During her “retirement years,” she worked for Costco. Known for her volunteer work, she assisted at the hospital gift shop, delivered mobile meals and helped with Honor Flight. She enjoyed line dancing, playing cards with friends, cheering on the Buckeyes and will be missed by her dog, “Rowdy.” Despite living with leukemia, she maintained a positive attitude, encouraged others and kept a strong faith in God. She was born October 2, 1950 in Sunbury, Ohio to the late Raymond and Mary Turner Beacom. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Smith and Patricia Caudill. She is survived by her daughter, Tracy L. (Dan) Kopala of Pickerington; her son, Rob Beightler of Bellefontaine; her step-children, Kathy (John) Streng, Karen (David) Amerine and Bob (Larisa) Peterman; her grandchildren, Trent (Harley) Kopala, Maria (Brian) Barnett, Melissa (Jim) George, Bryan (Amanda) Amerine, Jason (Maggie) Amerine, Natalie (Daniel) Smithberger and AnnaMarie Peterman; her great-grandchildren, Hayden, Libby, Sydney, Crosby, Wilson, Archer, Carter and Cole; a nephew, Matt (Sarah) Smith; and other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to mobile meals at Memorial Hospital or Honor Flight Columbus, P.O.
