Anna Catherine McEvoy Ellis, age 93, of Marysville, died peacefully at home, Saturday, July 13, 2019 surrounded by her loving family following a valiant battle with cancer. Catherine never knew a stranger and always greeted anybody with a hug, inviting them to “sit down and let me get you something to eat.” She lived a life of gusto and especially enjoyed traveling with her late husband, LeRoy, to destinations such as Alaska, Hawaii, The Panama Canal and numerous trips to Ireland where she loved to visit Irish cousins. A founding parishioner and active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, she was a 1943 graduate of New Dover High School. She and LeRoy maintained their farm since they established their Ellis Family Homestead in 1948. She loved to throw large family celebrations. She made sure that her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were active in agriculture and the Union County Fair. Catherine enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, the Marysville VFW and playing cards many times a week. While encouraging her growing young sons to play little league, she also played at the same time for the Stockdale Dollarettes softball team. An animal lover, she rode horses and was devoted to her numerous canine companions, including her best buddy, “Jake.” Above all, she was deeply devoted to her family and her Catholic faith. She was born November 21, 1925 in Dover Township to the late Patrick and Margaret Powers McEvoy. She was also preceded in death on January 4, 2017 by her beloved husband of 70 years, LeRoy Ellis, whom she married February 20, 1946 at Our Lady of Lourdes parish house on Oak Street in Marysville.
