Carolyn Ruth Allen Kelly, age 74, of Marysville, died peacefully Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a 1962 graduate of Northwest High School in Scioto County. She was a former associate of Marysville Schools, the Ohio Department of Transportation and volunteered at Memorial Hospital of Union County. Carolyn was known to be very artistic and creative. She liked to visit Amish country and collect antiques. She loved growing flowers, making floral arrangements and selling them at markets. Most recently, she liked making beaded jewelry. She will be most remembered for her feisty and colorful personality. Despite her brave battle with cancer, she maintained her humor and strong-will. She was born January 28, 1945 in Lucasville to the late Clarence and Goldie Holzer Allen. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Maxine, Christine, Virginia, Mary Frances, Martin, and Marvin. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles “Chuck” M. Kelly, whom she married October 12, 1963 in Indiana; three daughters, Michelle (Blaine) McKinney of Marysville, Monica (Darrell) Pope of Canal Winchester and Madona Valencia of California; her step-son, Greg (Boni) Kelly of Arizona; her grandchildren, Amber (Tyson) Ross, William Duda, Nathan Duda, Natania Pope, Jesse Kelly, Clark Kelly, Charles Kelly, Chase Kelly, Arcadio Valencia, Armando Valencia and Kailash Valencia; her great-grandsons, Hudson and Logan Ross; two sisters-in-law, Josephine “Jo” Robinson and Shirley Roberts; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives. In keeping with Carolyn’s wishes, the family will hold a private memorial gathering at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice of Union County.
