Carolyn Mickley

Carolyn Latham “Carol” Mickley, age 80, of Marysville, died peacefully Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Brookdale Senior Living. An educator for over 30 years, Carol taught for Marysville Schools at East Elementary. She also taught GED classes at the Ohio Reformatory for Women. A 1958 graduate of Union Local High School in Milford Center, she received a bachelor’s degree in education from Lakeland College in Plymouth, Wisconsin and a master’s degree from Wright State University. Carol was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Marysville where she served as Deacon and Elder. A member of the Union County Genealogy Chapter since 1987, she served as an executive board member, past Vice-President and was a past Pioneer Chairperson. She also was a member of Hannah, Dustin, Emerson Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was born August 2, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Max and Marjorie Nau Latham. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard S. “Dick” Mickley; two sons, Bruce L. Mickley of Cincinnati and Andrew K. (Babs) Mickley of Alexandria, Virginia; three grandchildren, Holly, Emily and John Mickley; a sister, Janice (Lawrence) Schmidt of Swanton, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Ruth A. Smith of Wilmington, Delaware; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Underwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church of Marysville. A luncheon will follow the service. Interment will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery. Rev. Jeffrey A. Schooley will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Marysville atwww.fpcmarysville.com.
