Brian Lee Channell, Jr., 12, of Marysville, died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He was a sixth grader at Creekview Intermediate School. A young athlete, he loved playing football, basketball and baseball. He also was an aspiring artist and enjoyed cartooning. A lively jokester, he enjoyed playing video games and being with his brothers and sisters. As he grew, he loved going to the park, skipping rocks, skate boarding, helping his grandma in the garden and going to Chuck E. Cheeses. He will be remembered as the family “protector,” a sweet hugger, a good student, a loving son, grandson, brother and uncle. He will be mostly remembered by his special smile. He was born September 1, 1999 in Marysville. He was predeceased by grandparents, Sue Sharp, Larry Smith and William C. and Mabel Blevins. He is survived by his parents, Brian L. and Shannon Smith Channell; his siblings, Brandon, Sheldon, Hunter, Christie and Christian; his grandparents, Sharon “Nannal” and Mike Denoewer of Marysville and Ted and Annette Channell of Mechanicsburg; his uncles, Jason Smith and Mike Long; his aunts, Jenny Channell, Jeannie Blevins, Amanda Sharp; a niece, Alana Marie Stewart; his cousins, Samantha, Ashley, Austin and Chris Long and L.J. and Brock Smith; and many other relatives and friends. Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Underwood Funeral Home where funeral services will be held following the calling hours. Private interment will be held at a later date.
