Billy Jackson Narramore, age 68, of North Lewisburg, Ohio, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at his home. An industrial engineer, he began his 35-year career May 27, 1968 for Stokely Van Camp in Indianapolis. He continued his work as plant manager in Tipton, IN and later transferred to Newport, TN to manage food and Gatorade production.
Following a merger with the Quaker Oats company, he and his family moved to Kissimmee, FL where he continued as plant manager in charge of Gatorade. Upon moving to Mountain Top, PA, he established a new Gatorade production and distribution plant for the northeastern United States. After a merger with Pepsico, he retired in 2003.
A 1963 graduate of Beech Grove High School in Indiana, he participated in basketball, football and track and field. He was drafted in the United States Army in September 1965 and served in Saigon during the Vietnam War. He attended Living Hope Church in Marysville.
As a genealogist, he compiled publications of his family ancestry, tracing back to England and Scotland. He enjoyed golfing and cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He will be most remembered as a hard-working and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was born February 11, 1945 in San Diego, CA to the late Alfred J. and Forrest Crowder Narramore and was also predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Wayne Narramore; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Woodward.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen Michele Hiatt Narramore, whom he married April 11, 1970 in Beech Grove, IN; his daughter, Jennifer Narramore of Snellville, GA; his son, Billy (Lisa) Narramore II of North Lewisburg; four grandchildren, Cassandra, Colt, Hunter and Rebekah; his sister, Dianne Woodward of Indianapolis; and his father-in-law, Merrill (Marty) Hiatt of Madison, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2013 at Living Hope Church, 16701 Square Drive, Marysville, Ohio 43040 where the family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Dr. Jeremy Westbrook and Pastor Jerry McQueen will officiate. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lewisburg with full military honors provided by the Union County Military Funeral Honor Guard.
After the cemetery interment, the family will host a food and fellowship Celebration of Life gathering at their home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice, 779 London Avenue, Marysville, Ohio 43040.
