Beatrice Jewell

Beatrice Catherine Sells Jewell, age 90, of Marysville, formerly of Urbana, died Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Brookdale Senior Living in Marysville. She was a retired assembler of Bulldog/Siemens/ITE after 33 years. The employee with the most seniority, she became an associate when the plant opened in 1958 and worked at the facility until it closed in 1991. She was a 1944 graduate of Urbana High School and worked at the dime store during her teen years. During World War II, she worked at Grimes Manufacturing and assembled landing lights for the war effort. She enjoyed bowling and loved Monday and Friday league nights. A sports fan, she followed the Ohio State Buckeyes. Above all, she was deeply devoted to her family and attended to her husband’s daily care following his stroke for 30 years. She was born one of eleven children on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1926 at the family home in Champaign County to the late Lyman and Leafa Viets Sells. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Louis E. “Bud” Jewell, whom she married December 28, 1945 in Urbana; and her siblings, Richard Sells, William Sells, Raymond Sells, John Sells, Forrest Sells, Robert Sells, Buddy Sells and Mary Jordan. She is survived by her children, Beverly (David) Cotton of Marysville, Patricia (Philip) Stanley of Logan and Michael (Ellen) Jewell of Hilliard; her grandchildren, Malissa Cotton, Michael (Marla) Cotton, Michael Stanley, Christa (Drew) Brayfield, Ryan Jewell, Aaron (Lori) Jewell and Chad Jewell; her great-granddaughters, Ashton Cotton, Cora Brayfield, Maggie Brayfield, Shaun Brayfield and Evelyn Jewell; her step-great-grandchildren, Christopher Sauders and Melanie (Don Herman) Sauders; a step great-great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Herman; her brother, Jim Sells; her sister, Betty Black; a sister-in-law, Imo Sells; a brother-in-law, Dick Jordan; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Underwood Funeral Home. A reception will follow at Cana Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church.
