Anna Jean Scott

Anna Jean Scott, age 95, of Marysville, died peacefully Saturday, October 17, 2020 at her present home in Friendship Village of Dublin.

A homemaker, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a former clerical associate of the Union County Treasurer’s Office and Marysville Municipal Court.  She also served alongside her late husband, Jack, with clerical duties for the Union County Chamber of Commerce.

A graduate of Watkins High School, she attended Bliss College.  She was a former member of Millcreek Baptist Church in Ostrander and was an active member of Springdale Baptist Church where she served with the church women’s group.  A 70-year member of Mary Chapter No. 9 Order of Eastern Star, she served as Past Worthy Matron and was a member of Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America.

Lovingly known as “AJ,” she was a member of Twig 6 Memorial Hospital of Union County Auxiliary and volunteered at the hospital for several years. She was also an active volunteer and past president of American Legion Union Post 79 Auxiliary and served with the former Marysville Lioness Club. AJ was immensely proud of serving on the Marysville Library Board. She enjoyed taking care of the flowers at Timberview Golf Course and at Friendship Village of Dublin.  AJ also enjoyed her travels around the world with her husband, playing cards, sports, reading and puzzles.

She was born May 14, 1925 in Union County, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Lucille Ayres Liggett.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jack Scott, whom she married July 8, 1945 at Millcreek Baptist Church; and her siblings, Ellwood Liggett, Marium Dagger, Max Liggett and George Liggett.

She is survived by two daughters, Jerralyn (Brian) Wood of Kettering and Nancy (Bob) Lewis of Marysville; four grandchildren, Brenden Wood, Lisa (James) Jordan, Ben Lewis and Nathan Lewis; her great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brody and Kaya Lewis and Kaitlyn, Maggie and Andrew Jordan; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Underwood Funeral Home where a funeral procession will form at 10:30 a.m. Thursday and proceed to Oakdale Cemetery for 11 a.m. graveside services. Rev. Steven Waltman will officiate. COVID precautions will be practiced. The family invites attendees for food and fellowship following the cemetery interment at Timberview Golf Club.
