Amanda Marie “Mindy” O’Connor, age 41, of Upper Arlington, formerly of Marysville, died peacefully, Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by her loving family. A 1998 graduate of Fairbanks High School, she loved the theater and participated in numerous productions with ShopWorks Theater Company in Columbus. A member of The Vineyard Church at Tuttle Crossing, Mindy enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, shopping, taking vacations and going to concerts and movies. A Williams Syndrome child, she was the designated “family event planner.” She loved holidays, celebrations, parties and surrounding herself with people. She was known for her compassion, friendliness and encouraging demeanor. Her family wishes to express the blessings, privilege and honor they were given to be part of her life. She was born April 13, 1978 in Columbus. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Theda Diehl and paternal grandmother, Helen O’Connor. She is survived by her parents, Deborah and Mark Grunden of Marysville; her father, Patrick O’Connor of Reynoldsburg; grandparents, Robert and Linda Grunden of Marysville; her sister, Hannah Grunden; her half-brother, Pat O’Connor, Jr.; her aunts and uncles, Mary (Chris) Varvarosky, Jack (PJ) Diehl, Laurie Bergman, Chris (Julie) Diehl, Caroline (Steve) Rothstein, Eric (Quynh) Grunden, Mike (Sue) O’Connor, Tim O’Connor, Sue O’Connor, Theresa (Mike) Putman, Molly (John) Englehardt; great aunts and uncles, Marilyn (Ted) Best, Barbara (Jim) Heim, Charles (June) Grunden, Les (Sherri) Grunden, Bonnie Wright; and many other relatives, including Loren, Luke, Cara, Erika, Alex, Bradley, Michael, Zane, Gage, Oryza, KT and O’Connor cousins; close friends, Leslie and Jennifer Evans; her roommate, Kerrie Myers; her providers, Jayne Collins and Mariama Wann; her many friends at ShopWorks; and her church family, Pastor John and Kathy Lieb, Jason and Maggie Nowland, Steve and Nola Koecher, and Marilyn. A Celebration of Life Party entitled “Groovin’ On A Sunday Afternoon” will be held in Mindy’s honor from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Underwood Funeral Home in Marysville, Ohio. Casual attire is appropriate. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Williams Syndrome Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
