Alice Louise Crawford Gordon

Alice Louise Crawford Gordon, age 87, of Marysville, died peacefully Thursday, February 13, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 27, 1932 in Hopedale, Ohio to the late Carl and Dorothy Devitt Crawford. Special to many, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and independent businesswoman. She was a 1950 graduate of Hopedale High School and received a bachelor’s degree in home economics from The Ohio State University in 1954. Following college graduation, she began her five-year home economics teaching career at Marysville High School. In 1959, she opened Alice’s Dress Shop in downtown Marysville. For 32 years, she was known for a unique shopping experience and the latest in women’s apparel. She was a longtime volunteer in the Wellness Center at Memorial Hospital of Union County with over 4600 hours.  A world traveler, she journeyed across the country, visiting nearly all the National Parks, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Fiji, amongst other countries. In addition to her parents, Alice will be greeted in Heaven by her husband, Lloyd R. Gordon; and a brother-in-law, George Oklok. She will be missed by her daughter, Linda (John) Schwendenman of Marysville; three grandchildren, Joseph Johnson, Jessica (Jarid Andrews) Johnson and Robert Schwendenman, all of Marysville; two great-grandchildren Kylie and Connor Andrews; her sister, Helen Oklok of Upper Sandusky; her brother, Carl (Doris) Crawford of Freeport; and nieces and nephews; many loving friends; and her devoted caregiver, Deb Hundley. Memorial services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice or Mobile Meals at Memorial Hospital.
