Marvin Eugene Cooperider, 79, of Marysville, died unexpectedly Saturday, August 4, 2012 at his home. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 30 years. He worked at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Columbus where he was a staff sergeant, serving as a supply master and refueling planes. He served during the Vietnam War and following the war, was stationed in Germany until his final assignment in Columbus. Following his retirement from the military, he worked as a guard at the Ohio Reformatory for Women. A graduate of Union Local High School in Milford Center, he enjoyed fishing. He was born January 22, 1933 in Milford Center to the late Edgar and Alice Daum Cooperider. He was also predeceased by a brother Edgar Cooperider; three step-children, Wayne Corbin, Brenda Rucker and Peggy Corbin; two step-sons-in-law, Chuck Sullivan and Cam Rucker; and a step-grandson, Paul Corbin. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy M. McCain Cooperider; five step-children, Barbara Wilson of Phoenix, AZ and Robert (Carolyn) Corbin, Sharon Sullivan, Janet (Ricky) DeShazer and Dale (Stacy) Corbin, all of Marysville; a step-daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Corbin of West Mansfield; a sister, Nadia (Don) Cooperider Bright of Marysville; 18 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends, including Alice and Woody Baker of St. Paris. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. Rev. John M. Groat will officiate and military honors will be provided by the Union County Military Funeral Honor Guard. Burial will be held later at Oakdale Cemetery.
