George was one of my favorite people in the whole world. I loved him because he loved Jesus Christ. He did not just say he was a Christian, he worked so hard with the Gideons International getting the Word of God into as many countries as possible and worked just as hard to keep New Dover Church going. I will miss George and the annual Gideons International dinners we attended, the after-church-on-Sunday lunches with most of the congregation together in fellowship, watching how he tried to take care of Shirley before her death, the books he would loan me and I would read and take notes and return them to him so we could discuss them. I will just miss George. But, Praise God, I know George and his beloved Shirley are together with the Lord and that is such a wonderful blessing. To those of his family who wrote letters to George when he went on his Emmaus Walk, thank you again for helping make his Emmaus weekend one of the highlights of my time with George as his servant Pastor. To his family I grieve George’s loss with you, but charge you to do as George did: Aim for heaven. We are only passing through this lifetime on our way to eternity with the LORD. George made it all the way into God’s Holy Presence. May we all join together to worship the Lord with George and Shirley one day.
